Kanes Publications is an independent publisher and crossword syndication service. We publish word puzzle books that have clues and themes related to African American history and culture. We also operate The Black Crossword Syndicate, which provides crossword puzzles to Black newspapers, magazines and other publications.

My name is Kane Kinnebrew III, owner of Kanes Publications. I started creating Black crossword puzzles as hobby and it has blossomed into a full fledged business. The major crossword publishers ignore African Americans when creating the themes for their puzzles and Afro-Centric Crosswordz helps to fill the void.

Many people are unaware that Blacks have made tremendous contributions to American society and to the rest of the world. This lack of knowledge is in part due to the racist laws and attitudes of the past, when achievements were credited to others or were outright stolen. This publication helps bring some of those achievements to light by presenting them in a unique and innovative way through crosswords and puzzles.

It’s an excellent way for kids and adults (of all races) to learn more about Black history and achievement. Knowledge is the key to creating pride and unity within the Black community and bridging the gap between all ethnic groups. Afro-Centric Crosswordz provides a fun and entertaining way to learn.
